Kenny Garrett

Over the course of a stellar career that has spanned 40 years, saxophonist Kenny Garrett has become the preeminent alto saxophonist of his generation.

From his first gig with the Duke Ellington Orchestra upon graduating from McKenzie High School in Detroit through his time spent with musicians such as Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, and as the last saxophonist in legendary trumpeter Miles Davis’s band from 1987-1991, Kenny has always brought a vigorous yet melodic and truly distinctive alto saxophone sound to each musical situation.

From collaborating with the New Jersey symphony on Adagio For Strings to mixing it up with hip-hop legend GURU on his Jazzmatazz projects to rockin’ out with Sting and Peter Gabriel, Kenny brings a muscular yet lyrical eloquence to everything he does. As a bandleader for the last three decades, he has continually grown as a composer, resulting in eight Grammy Award nominations.

Kenny’s quintet will have you dancing to the fan favorites “Happy People” and “Do Your Dance!”
You will leave the concert happy and exhilarated!
